ARCHIVED - Free guided tours of the Real Alcazar for Sevilla residents and natives
The free tours of Sevilla’s Real Alcazar in Andalucia begin in June.
As many of Andalucia’s attractions begin to reopen to the public following the pandemic, Sevilla city council is offering free guided tours of its historic Real Alcazar to anyone born or resident in the city.
The initiative, which begins today, Tuesday June 1, is costing the council €30,879 and is part of a bid to encourage Sevilla locals to discover the best bits of their own city.
The free hour-and-a-half tours will take place at 11 am from Tuesdays to Sundays until the end of the year and in groups of 19.
Tickets can be booked online at www.alcairsevilla.org and the tours kick off from the Puerta de Alcoba in the Jardines de Murillo on Calle San Fernando. Anyone taking part will need to take their identity card and comply with all health measures.
The free tours have been offered by Sevilla city council for three years previously in a bid to promote the city’s cultural areas.
Non-residents can also visit, although will be asked to pay the entry fee!
The Real Alcazar, which has been the backdrop of many films and television series throughout the years, dates back to the tenth century and the palace is now one of the city’s most popular attractions.
