ARCHIVED - 38- and 39-year-olds in Andalucia can book booster jabs from January 21
Appointments are currently being scheduled for the 40-46 age group in Andalucía
Third doses of the Covid vaccine are being made available to the under-40s in Andalucía from this week.
Appointments are being scheduled for the 40 to 46 age group from today, Wednesday January 19, and from Friday, 38- and 39-year-olds will be able to make self-appointments for a booster jab with the Andalusian Health Service (SAS).
During a press conference on Tuesday, the Regional Minister for Health and Families, Jesús Aguirre, once again stressed the importance of being vaccinated, insisting "the more doses that are administered, the greater the immunity".
"It is what prevents deaths and admissions to Intensive Care Units," he added.
With regards to pregnant women, there is "no age limit" for third doses, so regardless of their age they can go to a nearby vaccination centre or make an appointment as long as it has been at least five months since the second dose was administered.
Appointments can be made through the usual channels: at a local health centre; via the SAS website through ClicSalud+; or by calling the Salud Responde telephone number 955545060.
Andalucia has recorded its lowest number of cases in one day in the last two weeks, according to the latest health data on Wednesday January 19, and to date, seven million people in the region have been fully jabbed – 93.5% of over 12s.
