ARCHIVED - Activity on the up at Seville airport as several airlines resume flights
Air France resumes flights between Seville and Paris Charles de Gaulle on Wednesday
The number of passengers travelling through San Pablo airport in the Andalusian region capital city of Seville last month was 93.4 per cent less than in February 2020, but airlines are now starting to increase flights in preparation for what they hope will be a busier summer than last year.
With Easter coming close and covid vaccination schemes making it look like there could be light at the, albeit distant, end of the tunnel for tourism, a number of airlines are starting to increase their flights to and from Seville’s San Pablo airport, among others.
Air France has announced that it will start flying between Seville and Paris Charles de Gaulle on Wednesday (24 March) and as of April the company will be running at least five flights per week between the two cities.
Swiss airline Edelweiss meanwhile will be starting to fly between Seville and Zurich on Fridays and Sundays as of 26 March.
Transavia will be running three flights per week from Seville to Amsterdam in April, and Ryanair will be flying from Seville to Marrakech (Morocco) on Wednesdays as of 31 March.
Volotea will be resuming its connections between Seville and Santander, Asturias, the Basque Country and the Balearic Islands over the next couple of months, while Wizzair has announced that it will begin flying from Seville to Bucharest again and Vueling will be resuming its flights between the Andalusian capital city and Nantes and Paris.
In May, the amount of air traffic in and out of Seville is due to increase further with Ryanair announcing regular flights to Cologne, Brussels, Bordeaux, Marseille, Nantes, Budapest, Dublin, Bari, Bologna, Catania, Milan, Rome, Venice, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Vitoria.
Vueling has also announced they will be adding Lanzarote, Menorca and Fuerteventura to their destinations from Seville, and Iberia Express will continue to run four shuttle flights per week between Seville and Almería.
All flights do however remain subject to changes depending on the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic and any restrictions announced by the health or government authorities.
