ARCHIVED - Almeria to Sevilla air route gains two more flights a week
The Almeria to Seville air route is gaining more flights a week as passengers numbers rise.
As restrictions across Andalucia ease and locals and tourists begin to travel across the region once again, Spain’s central government has increased the number of flights operators are obligated to offer between Almeria and Sevilla by a further two a week.
From June 1, there will be two daily roundtrips between Almeria and Sevilla on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after the Ministry of Transport had previously dropped a public service obligation in place which meant operators had to offer more flights between the two hubs.
Despite the increase in services, the government has said that the current lack of demand on the route means they are not yet considering the daily flights that were in place before the pandemic.
Meanwhile, other restrictions imposed on airlines by the government will stay in place, including operators having to offer a minimum of 72 seats per flights.
Another air route, between Melilla to Almeria, still only has to offer four weekly flights however, although operators are able to change the days hours and capacities of flights to match demand from passengers.
The increase in flights between Almeria and Sevilla follows an increase tourists making their way back to Andalucia after Spain allowed UK nationals to fly into Spain without PCR tests from May 24.
