ARCHIVED - Almeria Guitar Museum hosts exhibition exploring history of the lute until October 10
The exhibition, titled ‘Memory of the Lute,’ is being held at the Guitar Museum in Almeria, Andalucia.
Almeria’s Guitar Museum is hosting a new exhibition on the relationship between Arab lutes and Andalucia.
The exhibition covers more than 1,000 years of the instrument’s history, and includes examples of current Arabic instruments as well as traditional instruments, and covers two floors of the museum.
The exhibition remains in place until October 10, at the Almeria Guitar Museum which is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm as well as on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 pm to 9 pm. Tickets costing €3 can be bought online at www.almeriaculturaentradas.es
The Antonio Torres Spanish Guitar Museum is located in the historical centre of Almeria, to the south of the cathedral, and is an unmissable visit for anyone interested in music and guitars.
Tickets cost three euros or two euros for those aged under 18 or over 64. Children under the age of six get in free.
Winter opening times (1 October to 30 May) are from 10.30 am. to 1.30 pm Tuesday to Sunday and also from 5 pm. to 8 pm. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Summer opening times (1 June to 30 September) are from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm Tuesday to Sunday and also from 6 pm. to 9 pm. on Fridays and Saturdays.
