The municipalities included in the campaign are Fondón, Canjáyar, Albanchez, Alicún, Bacares, Lubrín, Alcóntar, Uleila del Campo, Chirivel, Abrucena, Vélez Rubio, Alboloduy, Serón, María, Líjar, Alcolea, Olula de Castro, Vera, Alhabia, Pechina, Gérgal, Lúcar and Fuente Victoria.
Some of the traditional games which the provincial council wants to reintroduce to the younger generations are hopscotch, marbles, jump-rope, sack races, noughts and crosses, frog races, tangrams, bowling, stilts, ludo and many more.
The main purpose of the campaign is to guarantee that the popular children’s games which are part of Almería’s cultural heritage are passed down to the next generation, as well as to bring families and communities together.
In addition, Almería has created a ‘Popular Games Guide for Almería Families’ which is available online in a digital format and includes different videos with detailed explanations of the games.
