ARCHIVED - Andalucia region hottest place in Spain on Monday
Following the storms, temperatures rose to 38 degrees Celsius in Andalusia
Following a weekend of torrential rain, storms and hailstones the size of golfballs in Seville, the weather swung from one extreme to another on Monday and Andalucia became the hottest place in Spain, with temperatures well over 35 degrees in several provinces.
Although tightly squeezed by Seville and Huelva, who occupied nine out of the ten hottest spots in the region, Jaén muscled its way to the top of the leaderboard with a sizzling 38.1 degrees, at 17:30 in the afternoon in inland Andújar.
Seville put in a valiant effort, managing 37.7 at 17:00 in Tablada, 37.4 at 17:50 in Seville airport and 37.2 at 16:40 in Morón de la Frontera, before Huelva finally got a look in with its 37.1 degrees in El Granado at 18:50.
Temperatures are expected to go even higher in the next couple of days across Spain before another episode of storms clears the air at the weekend.
Welcome news for tourists who are now allowed into Spain from anywhere in the world as long as they are fully vaccinated and for UK visitors who don´t need to even supply a PCR test or vaccination certificate.
It appears that summer has finally arrived!
