ARCHIVED - Andalucía considering giving Covid vaccines to domestic tourists from within Spain this summer
The regional president also stated today that Andalucía is the first region in Spain to start offering Covid passports
The tourism sector is working hard to try and attract Spanish domestic tourists this summer in the expectation that the domestic market will be the key to surviving a second covid summer, with international tourism arrivals expected to be low for the second consecutive year.
Various initiatives are being proposed in different areas of the country, with competition fierce.
The regional president of Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, indicated on Monday June 7 that the Andalucía region is considering offering tourists from other parts of Spain who are visiting the region this summer the chance to either complete a course of vaccinations or obtain a first vaccination, as part of their summer tourism offering.
This proposal to administer Covid vaccines to visitors is designed to attract tourists and help promote the economic recovery of Andalucía, removing the obstacle that a family has to wait for one or more members of their party to be vaccinated or complete a course of vaccinations before travelling.
Another point made by the president is that residents of Andalucía who are in other parts of the country at the time of their vaccine appointment won’t lose out on their dose; the region, he says, is currently working to find a solution for these individuals.
He also announced that Andulucía has today become the first region in Spain to start producing Covid passports for its residents, which will prove that they have received a vaccine and help to facilitate travel within the EU.
A different certificate for those who haven’t been vaccinated but have had Covid in the past six months or have had a negative PCR or antigen test in the past 72 hours will also be on offer.
