ARCHIVED - Andalusia reports 34 deaths and 1,008 new coronavirus cases: Covid update April 6
The number of coronavirus patients in hospitals across the Spanish region of Andalusia has once again reached the 1,300 mark and the incidence rate continues to creep upwards.
1,008 new coronavirus cases and 34 deaths were reported in Andalusia on Monday, according to the latest figures released by the regional statistics institute on Tuesday 6 April. The 14-day accumulated incidence rate has increased to 156.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, up 1.1 from Monday.
By province, Sevilla reported 241 new cases and four deaths, Málaga 172 new cases and eight deaths, Granada 139 new cases and six deaths, Córdoba 133 new cases and three deaths, Cádiz 91 new cases and three deaths, Almería 88 new cases and six deaths, Jaen 71 new cases and four deaths, and Huelva 73 new cases but no deaths.
There are 1,300 coronavirus patients in Andalusian hospitals, 82 more than on Monday (the greatest increase in one day in over two months) and 270 more than last Tuesday, with 284 in ICUs, two more than on Monday and 41 more than last Tuesday.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Andalusia has registered 508, 592 Covid-19 cases and 9,378 deaths, according to the health authorities. So far, 412,896 patients who tested positive for the virus are reported to have fully recovered.
As of Tuesday a total of 1,562,327 vaccines had been administered in the region, with 526,109 members of the public having received both doses.
