ARCHIVED - Andalusia becomes first region to administer two million Covid vaccinations
The Andalusian president (see image) has said on Twitter that the region is keeping its pace up and intends to give as many vaccines as possible but called on the Spanish government to provide more doses.
Andalusia has become the first Spanish region to pass the two million vaccination mark, the president of the regional government, Juanma Moreno, announced on Thursday afternoon.
However, the Andalusian leader has called for more doses of vaccines against coronavirus “to save more lives and speed up recovery”, a common call from the leaders of all autonomous regions across Spain, trying to divert criticism from opposition parties who say that the vaccine rollout is too slow. It is, of course, but as has been documented in the last few months, supply problems abound throughout the world, with lack of vaccines a common factor, together with concerns about safety relating to some brands.
The region had administered 2,047,287 doses by the end of 14 April, and 561,429 members of the public had received both doses and were therefore fully inoculated.
