ARCHIVED - Benalmadena, Malaga: woman stabbed more than 10 times by ex-boyfriend
A woman in Benalmadena, Malaga province (Andalusia region) is in hospital and her ex-boyfriend is in police custody after an alleged stabbing.
Police in Benalmadena have arrested a 25-year-old Moroccan man on suspicion of stabbing his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend more than 10 times on Tuesday, May 4, leaving the woman in critical condition in Malaga’s Regional Hospital.
The incident allegedly took place when the suspect asked to see his ex-girlfriend to return money he owed her after they broke up earlier this year after dating for two years. After she arrived at his home, the man reportedly stabbed her more than 10 times in the head, neck, torso and hands with a knife.
A neighbour was alerted by the noise and called emergency services before the suspect then called the authorities himself.
Health workers stabilised the victim before taking her to Malaga’s Clinical Hospital in a critical condition before she was later transferred to the Regional Hospital due to the seriousness of her injuries.
Surgeons operated on the girl and she lost a kidney in the assault. She is now in hospital in intensive care.
The suspect was treated for cuts sustained to his hands during the stabbing before being arrested by the National Police.
