ARCHIVED - Boris Johnson slammed for holiday to Costa del Sol
The Prime Minister has spent the last few days in a luxury villa in Benahavís while the UK tackles a supply crisis
The British press has unmercifully criticised Prime Minister Boris Johnson for jetting off to a luxury property in Torre de Tramores in Spain’s Costa del Sol on Friday October 9 amid reports that supermarket shelves are empty and a post-Brexit supply crisis is imminent.
Mr Johnson is staying at an exclusive Benahavís resort close to Marbella which was once frequented by Princess Diana and Hollywood actor Hugh Grant. Advertised as the ‘most charming, picturesque and serene private estate in southern Spain’, the rent will set the Prime Minister back a staggering 35,000 euros a week.
Several UK news outlets have slammed Mr Johnson for taking a six-day break in sunny Spain while many companies and families back in the UK don’t even have access to basic supplies, with one paper alluding to the fact that the Prime Minister will have extra police and surveillance teams in place to ensure his safety while abroad.
It has not been confirmed whether Mr Johnson’s wife Carrie and their one-year-old son Wilfred have accompanied him on the trip.
