ARCHIVED - Coronavirus infections on the up again: Andalusia Covid update July 29
New cases have risen by almost half in Andalusia since the last update on Tuesday July 26
The number of new Covid infections has fluctuated considerably in Andalusia reaching 4,000 a week ago before halving in the last update. But they are once again on the rise.
Hospital admissions have fallen, but worryingly, 55 deaths have been recorded in the last three days.
New infections
The autonomous community of Andalusia's Ministry of Health has reported 2,895 new coronavirus cases in its latest update of infection data, up from exactly 2,000 on Tuesday but down on more than 4,000 a week ago.
This brings the number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,583,099.
Hospitalisations
The number of hospitalised patients has fallen to 578 from 705 in the last report and 689 a week ago. At the same time, the number of patients in the ICU has dropped by three to 37.
By provinces, Malaga is the one with the highest number of hospitalisations, with 132 (eight in ICU). It is followed by Seville with 112, Cádiz with 61, Córdoba with 59 , Jaén with 57, Granada with 56, Huelva with 54, and Almería remains the province with the fewest patients in hospital, with 47.
Cumulative incidence
According to data from the Regional Ministry of Health, the accumulated incidence in the over-60s stands at 278.78 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a decrease of 28 points compared to Tuesday.
Deaths
Fifty-five Covid related deaths have been recorded in Andalusia since the last update, bringing the total number of fatalities since the start of the health crisis to 14,696.
