ARCHIVED - Creeping back up from last week: Andalusia Covid update October 18
New infections and incidence rate refuse to drop further, in a mini spike for Andalucía
Things got slightly worse for Andalucía’s current Covid-19 situation this weekend as there were a total of 289 new cases, up from 276 before the weekend and 171 a week ago. However, only one more person died of coronavirus over the weekend, six fewer than two days before but the same as this time last week.
The Regional Minister of Health and Families in Andalucía, Jesús Aguirre, said, “with an incidence rate of 30.09, it is difficult to bring it down because we have the zero- to twelve-year-old age group who aren’t being vaccinated.”
New infections
The 289 new positive cases on Monday and Sunday come after 276 on Saturday, 297 on Friday, 179 on Thursday, 216 on Wednesday, 232 on Tuesday and 171 on Monday and Sunday. The total number of people who have been infected with coronavirus in Andalucía is now 805,723.
