ARCHIVED - Deep Purple to top the bill at the 2023 Rock Imperium Fest in Cartagena
The first edition of Rock Imperium brought 40,000 visitors to Cartagena this weekend
Following the huge success of the Rock Imperium Fest this weekend in Cartagena, when around 40,000 rock fans congregated in the Parque El Batel to see acts including Scorpions and Europe, it has already been announced that topping the bill at the 2023 edition of the festival will be the legendary band Deep Purple.
Plenty can change before the scheduled event on June 23 and 24 next year, of course, as is demonstrated by the late withdrawal of Whitesnake shortly before their anticipated appearance on Saturday evening, but this represents a great coup for the organizers of the 2022 festival. Around 30 per cent of those attending the concerts in Cartagena this weekend had travelled from outside Spain, greatly boosting international tourism in and around the city and providing a shot in the arm for local hotels right at the start of the peak summer season.
The first tickets for Rock Imperium 2023 go on sale at 20.00 on Monday June 27 and can be purchased through the website rockimperiumfestival.es.
