ARCHIVED - Estepona to boost pedestrian safety on busy walkway
The work is the latest project from the council of the Malaga town, which is known as the Garden of the Costa del Sol.
A contract to double the size of the pedestrian walkways on La Cala walkway in Estepona has been awarded for 59,626 euros, the council has announced.
The project consists of the construction of two 1.2-metre-wide and 24-metre-long cantilevered metallic walkways that will be attached to the existing pavements to make more room for those on foot to pass in both directions.
The bridge, a councillor explained, is used by many pedestrians as it connects to the busy, commercial Avenida Litoral, the Exhibition and Conference Centre and the bus station.
The work, which follows a recently completed project in the La Cala area to create sports fields, more than 2,000 square metres of green zones and a dog park, will be done by Geocaminos S.L. and will take a month and a half to complete, supporting the work of the council to make the municipality a greener and more pleasant place to live and visit.
