ARCHIVED - Female tourist gang-raped by three men at a Spanish beach in Andalusia
The woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in San Juan de los Terreros in the Almeria municipality of Pulpí
Police in Almeria have launched an investigation into the alleged gang-rape of a 30-year-old tourist at a beach in San Juan de los Terreros, a hamlet in the municipality of Pulpí.
The sexual assault by three men reportedly happened on Saturday night, May 21, and according to Guardia Civil sources, "an incident occurred and investigation is open, although no arrests have been made so far".
The Latin American victim and her partner were on holiday in the popular tourist area when the couple had a row and she "wandered alone" before her alleged attackers offered to accompany her to her tourist accommodation.
However, according to 112 de Andalucía, at around 9.05pm on Saturday, a man called the emergency services to report that he had found a woman in Calle Pisuerga, close to San Juan de los Terreros beach, who claimed to have been sexually assaulted on a jetty.
The Guardia Civil was immediately notified and have confirmed that the member of the public accompanied the victim to the Hospital de La Inmaculada de Huércal-Overa after contacting 112 to report a suspected rape.
The hunt for the three suspects continues.
