ARCHIVED - Kayak thieves nabbed in Cadiz
Police say the trio of alleged thieves stole kayaks valued at €8,710 4 in Valdelagrana, Cadiz, Andalucia.
Officers from the National Police have arrested three people aged between 20 and 23 on suspicion of stealing a total of 12 kayaks from a warehouse in Valdelagrana in the Cádiz province of Andalusia.
According to police, the group broke into a warehouse in the town before stealing €8,710 of kayaks and putting 10 of them up for sale.
The person who bought them was later identified and police were able to confirm that the boats were the same model and colour as the ones that had been stolen before returning the kayaks to their owner.
The buyer also told officers that the sellers were two young people who had used a rental van to transport the kayaks, following which police contacted the rental company to ascertain who had hired the van on the dates of the sale.
Officers also requested camera footage from the rental company and from the area near to the place where the kayaks were eventually sold, allowing them to identify the suspects and leading them to arrest a group of three in El Puerto de Santa Maria in Cadiz.
