ARCHIVED - Malaga mayor gets his Covid jab and urges residents to do the same
The regional health service of the Andalusia region has started to vaccinate all residents aged between 70 and 79 this week and is initially contacting those born in 1942 and 1943 with confirmed appointments, working down through the age group from highest to lowest.
Francisco de la Torre, the 78-year-old mayor of Málaga city, received his first dose of coronavirus vaccine on Wednesday (7 April) and has urged the public to do the same “without hesitation”.
The mayor announced on social media that he had attended his appointment after being contacted by the Andalusian health service (SAS) and expressed his pleasure that the process is finally speeding up.
“The fact that we have a vaccine little over a year after the WHO declared the pandemic is a huge achievement for science and humanity,” he said.
