ARCHIVED - Man dies of heart attack in Seville while waiting for Covid vaccine
The Andalusian regional government, which prides itself on its speedy vaccination rate, has denied accusations regarding long queues.
An 81-year-old man has died of a heart attack in Los Bermejales in Seville while he was waiting in a queue to be vaccinated.
The deceased, whose wife was accompanying him, had been called to go for his second dose of the Pfizer vaccine against coronavirus. He collapsed while standing in the queue, and witnesses called emergency services.
An ambulance team tried unsuccessfully to revive the patient before taking him to Virgen del Rocío Hospital, where he sadly died.
Long lines at vaccination centres are a constant problem in Seville, according to local press reports.
The opposition has complained about the matter at Andalusian Parliament but the Health department insists that patients are never made to wait for more than half an hour.
