ARCHIVED - Mass Covid testing this weekend for non-vaccinated individuals aged 14 to 39
The testing is taking place across the Murcia region
During the last few weeks there has been a significant surge in the number of new covid cases detected across the region, which is now translating into an increased number of patients requiring hospitalisation with more severe cases of covid.
Just within the last 24 hours, a total of 651 new cases have been detected, and the total of patients hospitalised has gone up to 138.
The bulk of these new cases are being detected amongst young adults and are being attributed to the increased socialising of the summer and non-use of masks.
The national government has announced a number of measures including the imposition of a curfew between two and six in the morning and ban on alcohol sales after 10p.m. anywhere other than in licensed hostelry establishments and this weekend is carrying out a series of mass testing sessions to try and identify where the outbreaks are located without being detected to date and to try and prevent any further spread of the virus.
