ARCHIVED - New warning of Saharan dust in Almeria and parts of southern Spain
There will be a new episode of ‘calima’ bringing red dust to Spain, but it won’t be as bad as in March

Like much of the rest of Andalucía and Spain, Almeria province is experiencing a drastic increase in temperatures.
The intense heat, which follows an atypical spring full of hail, snow, heavy rain and even the infamous ‘calima’, or Saharan dust clouds. And it’s precisely the latter that could be about to make a return to Almería in the next couple of days.
Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has once again warned of a new influx of dust from the Sahara into the south of the country. Provinces such as Almeria, Cadiz, Malaga and Granada could once again suffer the effects of the red dusty haze, although it should be noted that it will be less intense than in March.
Forecasts indicate that this new intrusion of Saharan dust will affect part of Andalucía on Thursday May 12 and Friday 13.

In Almeria, the forecast is for cloudy skies for May 12, with medium and high clouds predominating and a slight haze at the end of the day.
Temperatures will remain unchanged or will rise slightly.
On Friday, the Aemet forecasts light cloudy skies with intervals of high clouds throughout the region. Daytime cloudiness in the sierras, without ruling out occasional showers in the eastern interior, which could be accompanied by a few drops of mud rain. There will be a light calima, less likely in the north of the region.
