ARCHIVED - Over 1,000 new infections each day: Andalusia Covid update November 26
While infection rates are going up, luckily there hasn’t yet been a drastic spike in mortality
14-day incidence rate in Andalucía since March 2020
Covid-19 statistics in the autonomous community of Andalucía are getting worse across the board, from the number of new infections to the incidence rate and, worryingly, hospital pressure, though thankfully the number of new deaths hasn’t risen too dramatically this week.
New infections
Andalucía is looking down the barrel of 1,000 new infections each day. Today alone there were 1,045, and there was a total of 7,630 new cases over the last seven days.
Cumulative incidence rate
The incidence rate of Covid-19 in Andalucía has risen by seven points just in the last day, and almost 20 points over the course of this week. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate now stands at 90.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, as shown in the graph (above).
The highest rate is in the province of Córdoba, with 129.7, and the lowest in Jaén, with 77.9.
Hospitalisations
The number of hospitalisations is also creeping up, with 129 people admitted to hospital with coronavirus in Andalucía over the last seven days. Of those, ten had to be sent to the ICU.
Deaths
Nine more people died of Covid-19 this week, which mercifully is not a great leap up from last week, indicating that while there may be more infections, at least the disease doesn’t seem to be getting more lethal.
Recovered
Over a thousand more people have recovered from coronavirus since Monday, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 795,890.
Vaccinations
After reports of many more people coming out of the woodwork and queueing up to receive their first Covid jab, there are now 6,939,712 over-18s in Andalucía who have had at least one shot, which is 82% of the population.
There are also 6,824,305 adults who have been fully vaccinated, which is up to 80.6%, while 6,824,245 (91.6%) of over-12s have been double jabbed.
