ARCHIVED - Tourist accommodation occupancy rates in Malaga and Cadiz among highest on Spanish coasts
Occupancy rates for tourist accommodation this summer in Malaga will reach 77.4 per cent, according to new figures.
The arrival of Spain’s Covid certificate and the increased roll out of the country’s vaccination programme have seen bookings for tourism accommodation soar this summer, with Cadiz and Malaga some of the country’s most popular destinations.
According to new figures from Idealista, tourism rental homes in Cadiz are already 86.2 per cent booked, while in Malaga the figure is 77.4 per cent. The figures place both provinces ahead of their occupancy figures last year.
Elsewhere in Spain, Mallorca is seeing the highest number of homes booked at 90 per cent, followed by Menorca at 87.9 per cent, and Cantabria at 85.5 per cent. Another popular Andalucia tourism destination, Almeria, is 80 per cent booked.
The figures also revealed that almost all of Spain’s popular tourism destinations are already booked up more than last summer, and experts have said they are now expecting tourism properties to be booked to near pre-pandemic levels this summer.
The number of tourists travelling to Andalucia saw a major drop during the pandemic, however the arrival of Spain's vaccine certificate, which will allow quarantine-free travel to those who have been vaccinated, had the virus or had a PCR test within the EU, is expected to increase tourism this summer.
