ARCHIVED - Two men wanted by Dutch police on suspicion of torturing and murdering a man arrested in Malaga
Police have arrested two wanted men in Malaga accused of torturing and murdering a man in the Netherlands before allegedly going into hiding on the Costa del Sol.
The men had been wanted under European Arrest Warrants on suspicion of the crimes after the body of a man was found in a square in Bergen, Holland.
Following the killing, a joint operation carried out by the Spanish National Police and Dutch authorities tracked down the men to Malaga’s coast.
Officers later arrested one of the suspects, a 25-year-old Macedonian man, at an A-7 tollbooth in Calahonda, Mijas, after they spotted him in a suspicious vehicle and found he was wanted by the Dutch authorities. The man was reportedly carrying three mobile phones, a luxury watch and €690 in cash.
Their investigations led police to arrest the other suspect, a 25-year-old Dutch man, in Benalmadena.
The men were handed over to Spain’s National Court before being extradited back to Holland and their arrests come following a series of international operations between Spanish police and their counterparts across Europe to locate suspects wanted under European Arrest Warrants.
