ARCHIVED - Two further Almeria sports centres used to roll out Covid vaccine
The Las Norias and Balerma sports centres are now being used to administer Covid vaccines in Almeria, Andalucia.
As Andalucia speeds up its vaccination programme, two further sports centres in Almeria are joining those already in use to offer large-scale vaccines.
The Las Norias and Balerma centres join a total of eight large sports grounds being used in the Poniente de Almeria area to administer the vaccine.
Jabs are currently being offered to those aged over 40 and vaccinations are taking place at Las Norias on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as at the Balerma sports centre on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Locals are also receiving vaccines at the fairgrounds in El Ejido on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The health district in the area now has eight vaccination points in six municipalities and on Tuesday, June 8, broke its record for the number of vaccines administered with almost 5,000 doses.
Andalucian health officials have said they expect to roll out the vaccine to those aged under 40 from the end of next week after the region has increased the speed of its programme in line with its goal of offering at least one vaccine to 70 per cent of the population by the end of June.
Appointments can be obtained via the website ClicSalud+, via the App. Salud Responde or via the Salud responde telephone line.
As of Thursday June 10, 3,642,033 residents of the region have received at least one dose, which is 51 per cent of the adult population.
2,104,752 adults over 16 have been given two doses and are fully innoculated, 29.89 per cent of the adult population.
