ARCHIVED - 11 irregular migrants pulled out of the sea in Nijar, as 65 reach Almeria this weekend
A total of 65 irregular migrants reached the Almeria coastline in the Andalucia region on Saturday, May 15.
The flow of irregular migrants making their way by boat to Spain from North Africa continues relentlessly the good weather and calm conditions during the weekend encouraging 65 irregular migrants to make the journey across to Spain from the African Continent, and landing on the Almería coastline of the Andalucía region.
According to the Red Cross, a total of 65 migrants arrived in Almeria province on Saturday, May 15, including one disabled person and a child. The majority were of Maghreb origin and five were of sub-Saharan origin.
Most were rescued out at sea by coastguard patrols, but in one instance, eleven were pulled from the water when their boat capsized.
31 irregular migrants were intercepted in Nijar, Almeria and 23 off the Carboneras coastline.
They were all given humanitarian aid at the port of Almeria by Cruz Roja, and all were tested for covid.
Further boatloads also crossed to Alicante province where eleven Algerians reached Calpe and several further boatloads landed on the Murcian coastline over the weekend.
