5 of the best motorcycle routes in Cadiz
The province of Cádiz, Andalucia offers another world for travellers on two wheels
More and more people are discovering new and exciting ways to explore southern Spain, and what could be more exhilarating that zipping through the countryside on a motorcycle? In Cádiz, motoring enthusiasts can enjoy winding tours through the province’s natural surrounds, or soak up the historical and monumental heritage that its cities have to offer.
So start those engines and get ready to explore Cádiz by bike.
1. The White Villages of Cádiz
Andalucia is famous for its striking whitewashed buildings and Cádiz has its own white villages route. If you’re leaving from Chiclana, Cádiz or El Puerto de Santa María, the most popular tour heads along the Pedroso highway (A-408) towards the Paterna de Rivera.
2. The coastal trail
This route also takes motorcyclists along the Pedroso highway but this time it’s in the direction of Medina. At the end of the ride visitors will be spoiled for choice with a huge selection of seafront eateries offering some of the best views in the country.
3. The Alcornocales route
Bikers should ride as far as Alcalá de los Gazules on the CA-5032 and once there, head towards Puerto de Gáliz, before entering the Los Alcornocales natural park. The road is 4.5 metres wide although it is a bit rough in patches, so take care.

4. The shrimp trail
The ruta del langostino is especially popular with couples and small groups: it’s the shortest distance from Cádiz, the road has few twists and turns and offers a perfect peaceful getaway. Enjoy the world-class seafood once you arrive for an unforgettable day out.
5. The Jerez countryside route
Something of a hidden gem, this route offers an incredible landscape that will leave motorcyclists spellbound. The Jerez countryside route heads towards San José de Valle through the well-known Paterna highway if you leave from Chiclana, Cádiz or Puerto Real.
Recommendations for travelling by motorbike
Before embarking on your trip, it’s important that you check your bike thoroughly for any maintenance issues that could cause a mishap and spoil your ride.
Change oil and filters, check the condition of the transmission and especially the tyres. Remember, some of these routes will take you as far as 300 kilometres away and that distance, coupled with high speeds and hot roads, could quickly burn up the rubber.
Always carry a basic tyre repair kit and above all, have a great trip!
