Mainland Spain’s southernmost region has more towns on the list than any other autonomous community
The town of Pampaneira, Granada
The Times newspaper has released its list of the 20 most beautiful villages in Spain, and six of them are in Andalucía.
All the villages in this exclusive ranking have a population of less than 15,000, and each location is judged on its “architectural or natural heritage”, protection of historical buildings and the general prettiness of the town.
The six winning villages in Andalucía were Genalguacil (Malaga), Pampaneira (Granada), Lucainena de las Torres (Almería), Castillo de Castellar (Cadiz), Almonaster la Real (Huelva) and Setenil de las Bodegas (Cadiz).
