9 Spanish airports win international awards for quality and service
Alicante and Sevilla took home the trophies as the best airports in Europe in their categories

Each year, Spain delivers a stellar performance at the prestigious Airport Quality Program (ASQ) awards and 2025 is certainly no exception as the International Airport Council (ACI) has recognised no fewer than 9 aerodromes for their outstanding quality and service.
To keep things fair, the airports are grouped according to their annual passenger numbers and they all have a change at being crowned ‘Best European Airport’ in their individual categories.
Of the airports with the highest traffic, Palma de Mallorca has taken the top prize in the 25 to 40 million passenger group, while Alicante airport has won the ‘Best European Airport’ award in the 15 to 25 million category for the fifth time.
Sevilla, meanwhile, carried away the accolade in the 5 to 15 million passenger segment.
Of course, there are plenty of smaller airports that deserve recognition. Among these, Girona-Costa Brava, El Hierro, Pamplona, Reus and Zaragoza received the nod in the two million passengers and under category.
In addition, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport was honoured with the award for the airport with the most dedicated staff in Europe.
Other awards were given in specific categories. El Hierro and Pamplona airports were named the cleanest on the continent, while Reus and El Hierro again were recognised for offering the easiest journey for passengers.
These awards are part of ACI's ASQ program, which measures travellers' perceptions of various aspects of airport service, such as accessibility, cleanliness and wait times.
The prizes will be presented at the ACI World Customer Experience Summit and Exhibition, to be held in Guangzhou, China, from September 8 to 11, 2025.
