Aguilas offers 50 per cent tax discount for installing solar panels
Existing homes that install solar panels in Águilas will only have to pay half their real estate tax

Starting next year, properties that install solar panels, in accordance with the provisions of the new Technical Building Code, will benefit from a 50% reduction on the price of real estate tax (IBI). This deduction will be made the year after the improvements have been made, and is applicable to all existing buildings, but not new homes.
“This measure aims to promote photovoltaic self-consumption as this is one of the main elements within the energy model that we want to promote in Spain,” said the Águilas mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno.
To avail themselves of this bonus, homeowners must submit a formal request, along with an invoice for the solar panels themselves and the installation work. A certificate signed by a competent technician, along with a report from the municipal technician, will also be required.
Only properties used as residential housing are eligible for the tax discount and the homes must be included in the register of low voltage electrical installations of the General Directorate of Energy of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
