Alicante Airport tops 10 million passengers after record-breaking June
The Costa Blanca gateway welcomed more than 2.1 million passengers in June alone, with UK travellers continuing to lead the way

Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has passed the 10 million passenger mark for the year after recording its busiest June ever, underlining the Costa Blanca's continued popularity with holidaymakers and second-home owners.
More than 2.1 million people travelled through the airport during June, with a total of 2,123,528 passengers recorded. The figure represents an increase of 10.5% compared with the same month last year and sets a new June record for the airport.
The latest figures mean Alicante Airport has now welcomed 10,061,138 passengers since the start of the year, up 9.3% on the first six months of 2025.
To put the milestone into perspective, the airport has already handled more than half of the 19.9 million passengers recorded during the whole of last year, which was itself a record-breaking year for the Costa Blanca hub.
Aircraft movements have also continued to rise. Between January and June, the airport handled 63,978 flights, an increase of 9.5% compared with the same period a year ago.
June alone saw 13,153 take-offs and landings, up 12.1%.
International travellers once again accounted for the vast majority of passenger traffic. More than 1.88 million international passengers used the airport during June, an increase of 11.3% compared with the same month last year.
British travellers remained by far the airport's largest international market. More than 700,000 passengers travelled between Alicante and the UK during June, comfortably ahead of Germany, Poland and the Netherlands.
Just down the coast, the Region of Murcia International Airport at Corvera is also enjoying a successful year. The airport handled 447,402 passengers during the first half of 2026, an increase of 10.7% compared with the same period in 2025.
The latest milestone comes only weeks after Ryanair celebrated carrying its three millionth passenger through the Murcia airport since operations began there in 2019, alongside the launch of new routes to Venice and Lille.
