ARCHIVED - Almeria burglar who broke into an occupied home and stole flip-flops is jailed for two years
The man broke into a home in the Andalusian province and stole flip-flops, trainers and a rucksack

A judge in Almería has sentenced a man who broke into a property while the occupants were home and stole shoes and a rucksack to two years in prison.
The detainee, known only as Y.S., was found guilty of entering the house in the centre of Almería "through a wall to the interior of the porch" at around 4.30pm on May 4.
He helped himself to a rucksack, three pairs of trainers and three pairs of flip-flops before fleeing after the police arrived having been alerted by the owners of the property.
The burglar was arrested in a public park near Avenida de Madrid still in possession of the stolen items.
Sentencing him for robbery with force against the property, the judge stated that he should serve "the entirety" of the two-year sentence.
In a separate hearing at the same court in Almería, a judge sentenced a violent street thief to 12 months in prison. At around 8pm on May 6, the thief came across a couple shopping in Avenida Pío XII in Albox.
He approached the man and asked him to give him 15 euros to buy a remote control. When the man refused, the defendant headbutted him "hard in the mouth" whilst pulling his belongings out of his pockets.
The victim's partner tried to help but was "punched hard in the eye". The thief tried to make a run for it but was stopped and arrested by a Guardia Civil officer on patrol in the area.
