ARCHIVED - Almost a fifth of unemployed people in Almeria are foreigners
Unemployment in the Andalusian province is down for the sixth consecutive month
In November 2021, unemployment in Almería fell by 1,436 people compared to October. This figure represents a decrease of 2.43%, bringing the total number of unemployed in the province to 57,568 people, and is in line with unemployment dropping in the rest of Spain, too.
Compared to November of last year, unemployment is down by 10,914 people, so there are 15.94% fewer people unemployed this year.
This is the sixth consecutive month that unemployment has fallen in the province, both in monthly and year-on-year data, which is bringing Almeria closer to pre-pandemic figures. Indeed, the figure of 57,568 unemployed is already lower than that recorded in November 2018 (57,809), although still higher than that recorded in November 2019 (56,216).
By sex, male unemployment stood at 24,278 unemployed men in November, while the total number of unemployed women was 33,290.
By age, the unemployment figure for those under 25 is 4,451, while among those over 25, the number of unemployed is 53,117.
Of the total number of unemployed, 12,078 are foreign nationals.
Covid-19 ERTEs
As for the number of people receiving ERTE Covid-19 contributory benefit in Almeria, it continues to decline as it has since February 2021, standing in October at 1,927 workers.
