ARCHIVED - Almost all hotels in Granada ready and waiting for guests as inter-provincial movement begins
There are some 35,000 hotel beds in the province of Granada (Andalusia), and the vast majority are available as of today.
There's an air of excitement within the Andalucía region as the inter-provincial borders between the eight provinces of the region (Almería, Granada, Málaga, Cádiz, Huelva, Seville, Córdoba and Jaén) re-open, enabling residents to move around freely and enjoy trips away and excursions in other areas of this vast region.
The region covers 87,268 square kilometres (33,694 square miles), so is vast!
Although almost all of the 420 hotels in Granada province are open and ready to welcome guests, the same applies to the other seven provinces of the region, all of which are viewing Thursday April 29 as being a new beginning, hoping that the fact that residents are able to move from one Andalusian province to another for the first time in three months will encourage them to book a break away in the region.
Provincial hotel sector representatives in Granada have reported that all one, two and three-star hotels, guesthouses and hostels are open, as are virtually all four and five-star hotels, but occupancy remains low at this point.
Hoteliers hope that is about to change due to the easing of restrictions, and are expecting an increase in bookings for the weekend, especially as Saturday is a holiday and in some places such as Motril, Monday is, too. While calls to ask for information have so far outnumbered bookings, they report, the latter are starting to come in, particularly for hotels on Granada’s Costa Tropical.
