Andalucía weekly weather forecast March 2-5: Wet, windy spells with dust and some sunshine
Blustery days with showers, Saharan dust and temperatures still on the mild side
After the springlike sunshine and breezy but pleasant conditions of the last few days, this week in Andalucía turns more unsettled. Cloud, showers and some heavier bursts of rain move in at times, especially around the Strait of Gibraltar and the far east, with brisk winds and Saharan dust in the mix. Even so, it stays on the mild side for early March, often nudging above 20 degrees in many places between the showers.Monday March 2
Andalucía weather forecast, Monday March 2Monday is more changeable, with very cloudy spells and occasional showers. Low cloud and patches of mist are likely along the Mediterranean coast to start, and dust in the air means muddy deposits are possible after any rain. Temperatures change very little, but the wind picks up, starting light and easterly then freshening to a moderate southerly from midday, stronger along the coast. Cádiz can see winds around 40 km/h with gusts up to 64 km/h, and coastal warnings are in force there and in Almería, while inland areas such as Jaén stay a bit calmer.
Tuesday March 3
Andalucía weather forecast, Tuesday March 3On Tuesday, skies become mostly cloudy with moderate rain in the southwest and a risk of heavier, more persistent downpours around the Strait, including Tarifa. Dust in suspension again gives a chance of muddy rain. Temperatures rise slightly and many parts of the region, including Málaga and Huelva, should get above 20 degrees, while the Mediterranean coast sees little change in night-time values. Winds begin light and easterly, then turn westerly along the Atlantic coast later, with moderate easterlies on the Mediterranean side and in the eastern third, where strong or very strong gusts are possible.
Wednesday March 4
Andalucía weather forecast, Wednesday March 4Wednesday brings rain across the region under very cloudy skies, with some moderate to heavy downpours and stormy-like conditions possible in many areas. Night-time temperatures change little, but daytime highs dip back, although around Córdoba it can still reach about 20 degrees. Winds ease to light and variable, though strong northeasterly gusts may still hit the far east.
Thursday March 5
Andalucía weather forecast, Thursday March 5Thursday keeps the cloud for much of the day, with light to moderate rain in many areas, though this should gradually fade and skies begin to brighten towards the evening. Minimum temperatures show little change, while daytime values fall in the northeast but lift a little elsewhere; Seville for example, may climb to around 19 degrees, with Granada also feeling pleasantly mild when the rain eases. Light to moderate westerly winds are expected, stronger along the coast, so it could still feel fairly brisk at times around Cádiz.
The changeable pattern looks set to linger into the following days, with further showers, some gusty winds near the coasts and the odd brighter spell in between keeping Andalucía on its toes.
