ARCHIVED - Andalucia begins covid vaccinations for those born in 1965
The Junta de Andalucia is now vaccinating those born in 1965 as it works down through those in their 50s
After the Andalucia regional health authorities issued information last week that residents aged between 57 and 59 could get in touch directly with the authorities to book their vaccine appointments, officials have now announced that those born in 1965 will this week begin receiving calls for their appointments.
The Junta de Andalucia said all those born in 1965, whether they have reached the age of 56 or not, will receive a call as the Andalucian Health service (SAS) continues its vaccination rollout, working its way through the age groups from the most elderly downwards.
At the same time as vaccinating different age groups, Andalucia is also administering jabs to care workers and the vulnerable, as well as 2,500 port workers at the ports of Algeciras, Cadiz, Huelva, Granada, Almeria and Sevilla in a bid to prevent the spread of new strains entering the country by ship after an outbreak of the Indian variant last week at several ports across Spain.
Those aged between 57 and 59 and residents over 68 can still contact the SAS directly to arrange their appointment online at the Andalusian Health Service's website at https://www.sspa.juntadeandalucia.es/servicioandaluzdesalud/clicsalud/, through the Salude Responde mobile app and by the Salud Responde phone number on 955 54 50 60. Appointments can also be made at local health centres.
Second doses and appointments for different age groups cannot be booked using the service however, and officials are asking those who are not eligible for direct booking not to try to use the service to avoid saturating resources.
This week, Andalucia expects to receive 413,630 doses of vaccine, including 279,630 from Pfizer, 55,000 from Moderna, 56,500 from AstraZeneca and 22,500 from Janssen and has so far administered 3,341,428 doses of the vaccine.
