Andalucía weekend weather forecast July 16-19: No let-up as the heat intensifies further
Warnings spread across more of the region this weekend, with several inland cities pushing well above 40°C
This week has seen temperatures deep into the forties in some places across Andalucía, and Wednesday's peak of 41°C in Granada set an uncomfortable benchmark. This weekend doesn't offer much of a reset. Warnings are widening rather than easing, and the dust in the atmosphere is adding to the oppressive feel across much of the region.
Thursday July 16
Andalucía maximum temperatures, Thursday July 16
Partly cloudy skies to start the weekend, with dust suspended in the atmosphere affecting visibility in places. Warnings are active across Almería, Córdoba, Granada, Jaén and Málaga, with Granada and Córdoba both sitting at 39°C. Temperatures are largely unchanged from yesterday's highs, with minimums nudging up locally. Winds are light and variable, turning to moderate westerlies along the coast and in the eastern third during the afternoon.
Friday July 17
Andalucía temperatures, Friday July 17
The warning list grows. Seville and Cádiz join the existing five provinces on alert, as significantly high temperatures spread to the lower Guadalquivir valley. Mid- and high-level cloud drifts in through the day, and there's a chance of isolated thunderstorms developing in the eastern mountain ranges during the afternoon. Dust remains in suspension. Huelva, on the Atlantic edge, stays slightly more bearable, but not by much. Winds are light and variable, with moderate westerly gusts along the coast.
Saturday July 18
Andalucía temperatures, Saturday July 18
Warnings remain in place for Córdoba, Jaén, Granada and Seville, and the reason is plain to see: all four are sitting above 40°C. Cloud continues to build in the eastern ranges during the day, with another chance of isolated storms in the afternoon, and dust is still lingering. On the Atlantic slope temperatures are rising, while the Mediterranean side sees little change or a slight fall. Tarifa, as so often, benefits from its position at the tip of the peninsula with some Atlantic airflow providing a degree of relief. Winds are predominantly westerly and light.
Sunday July 19
Andalucía temperatures, Sunday July 19
Mid- and high-level cloud increases through the day, with further development in the eastern mountain ranges. Low cloud moves in along the Mediterranean coast during the afternoon. Temperatures ease along the Mediterranean side, including Málaga, while staying largely unchanged elsewhere. Cádiz remains the only place in the region offering anything approaching a respite, sitting at a relatively pleasant 30°C. Winds are light and variable throughout.
A weekend of relentless heat, with the warnings now covering more ground than at any point this week. Sunday brings the first tentative signs of some cooling on the coast, but for much of inland Andalucía, the furnace is very much still on.

- Friday July 17: Min 20ºC; Max 41ºC
- Saturday July 18: Min 21ºC; Max 42ºC
