Andalucía weekly weather forecast July 6-9: No let-up in the heat as warnings spread across the region
Very hot and largely sunny with stormy mountain spells, strong Strait winds and heat warnings almost everywhere
After a week that saw temperatures push deep into the forties inland and strong easterlies keeping the coast lively, there's no sign of relief just yet. If anything, the heat spreads further this week, across Andalucía, with warnings now covering almost the entire region by Tuesday. Only the coastal areas escape the worst of it, and even there it's far from cool.Monday July 6
Andalucía temepratures, Monday July 6Predominantly clear skies to start the week, though cloud builds in the northern and eastern mountains during the day, bringing the chance of thunderstorms that could be dry and accompanied by very strong gusts. Heat warnings are in place almost everywhere: only Málaga, at around 32°C, and Almería, reaching 34°C, are spared. Winds are generally light and variable, turning moderate from the south in the afternoon. Around the Cádiz coast, easterlies strengthen noticeably, with very strong gusts in the Strait of Gibraltar before easing by evening.
Tuesday July 7
Andalucía temepratures, Tuesday July 7Every province now carries a heat warning. Skies are partly cloudy, with cloud building again over the eastern mountains through the day and another chance of isolated storms. Temperatures rise further in the south and east, with little change elsewhere. Winds stay light and variable for most, with moderate southerly gusts in the afternoon and moderate easterlies around Tarifa and the Strait, occasionally strengthening. Seville and Jaén are among the hottest spots inland.
Wednesday July 8
Andalucía temepratures, Wednesday July 8Partly cloudy to clear, with cloud developing again over the northeastern mountains and isolated thunderstorms possible there. Temperatures ease slightly in the far west but continue to climb elsewhere. Córdoba is the standout, reaching 44°C, with Jaén and Seville both pushing into the low forties. Winds turn southerly in the afternoon with moderate gusts, and moderate easterlies persist around the Strait. Huelva, on the Atlantic side, sees some of the slight westward dip in temperatures.
Thursday July 9
Andalucía temepratures, Thursday July 9Much the same picture as Wednesday: partly cloudy to clear, with cloud building over the northeastern mountains and isolated storms possible. Temperatures unchanged or slightly lower in the far west, rising elsewhere. Winds light and variable through the morning, becoming southerly with moderate gusts in the afternoon, and moderate easterlies continuing around the Strait and towards Granada on the eastern coast.
It's a gruelling week for the interior, with extremely high temperatures. The coast stays more bearable, but not by much, and there's little sign of any real change on the horizon.
