Hospital pressure in Andalucía is in decline but a further 14 fatalities have been reported Over 12s now included in vaccination stats

The latest data released by the regional health authorities show that an additional 521 new Coronavirus infections in Andalucía over the weekend grew by 362, a marked improvement on last week, as the cumulative incidence rate drops 4 points to 57.2 per 100,000 people.

Seville and Málaga continue to have the highest number of new cases, with 95 and 83 more respectively.

Andalucía is firmly on the downward trajectory in terms of the 14-day incidence rate, which now stands at to 57.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. All provinces now have an incidence rate below 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with the worst-off province of Almería actually having gone up over the weekend from 97.8 to 99.3. The best-off province, Jaén has also increased slightly to 33.1.

All the other provinces have reduced their incidence rate: Huelva has 72.3; Málaga has 66.7; Seville has 62.7; Granada with 50.9; Cádiz with 38.6; and Córdoba with 31.0.

Hospitalisations and Fatalities

A total of 7,373 people remain in hospital in Andalucía for coronavirus, 608 of whom are in the ICU. This is only 15 more hospitalisations over the weekend, and just three of those were serious enough to require intensive care.

There were five more deaths from the virus over the weekend – two in Málaga, one in Seville, one in Granada and the other in Córdoba.

Vaccination campaign

An extra 12,000 people got vaccinated in Andalucía over the weekend, taking the total up to 6,622,654. 78.2% of the region’s population have now been double jabbed, 88.8% id you include over 12s.
