ARCHIVED - Andalusia forecasts more than 26 million passengers in 2022
The region is hopeful for this year, but has pushed back expectations of a full economic recovery until 2023

Andalucía aims to exceed 26 million travellers coming to its shores in 2022, which would be a recovery of much of the tourism activity lost during the pandemic. This message was shared by Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, and the vice-president and Minister of Tourism, Juan Marín, during a press conference they gave on the opening day of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), which is being held in Madrid until January 23.
The President also set his sights on 2023 as the “definitive” year for the recovery of the tourist sector in Andalucía, which he characterised as a “master pillar” of the region’s economy.
As proof of this, it was announced earlier this week that the economy in the province of Málaga is growing at a faster rate than the rest of Andalucía and Spain, largely thanks to its strong tourist sector.
