ARCHIVED - Andalusia introduces Covid passport for hospitals and care homes
The measure will remain in place in Andalucía until January 15
As of Tuesday December 7, a Covid passport will be required to enter hospitals, health centres and elderly care homes in the community of Andalucía. The Superior Court of Justice has ratified the measure after it was rejected earlier in the month for not specifying an end date. The requirement will remain in place until January 15.
The Health order states that, in order to visit these premises, people must have "a certificate issued by the public health service or by an authorized laboratory" that proves that "they received the complete schedule of a vaccine against Covid-19” or "a negative PCR performed in the last 72 hours or a negative antigen test in the last 48 hours, or prove that "they have recovered from an infection by SARS-CoV-2 in the last six months", for which "the person must have been diagnosed as a confirmed case of Covid-19 11 days ago or more through a PCR test”.
It is important to note that a Covid passport won’t be required by people accompanying a patient at a consultation or the hospital’s emergency room.
The regional health authorities have also assured that no personal data will be kept or recorded, and that “the verification actions will be the least intrusive and invasive as possible”.
Failure to comply with the new regulations will result in a fine of between 100 and 3,000 euros for minor offences; between 3,001 and 60,000 euros for serious ones; and up to 600,000 euros for the very serious.
