ARCHIVED - Andalusia to administer flu jabs from mid-October
The first Andalucía residents to receive their jabs will be care home residents and healthcare workers, followed by over 65s
Following the success of the Covid vaccine campaign in the Region of Andalucía, the 2021-2022 flu vaccine campaign will begin on October 14 in Andalucía, ahead of the schedule established by the national Ministry of Health.
Andalucía will have around 1,645,000 doses of the vaccine to distribute among the population and, according to the regional Health Ministry, jabs will be provided to the most vulnerable groups first.
The campaign is going to start off with healthcare workers and residents in care homes for the elderly, followed by the over 65s, people with health problems and pregnant women. From November, jabs will be administered to other essential workers, including members of the Armed Forces, firefighters, police officers, education professionals in direct contact with students, etc.
In December, the campaign will be extended to carers and people who live with members of vulnerable groups (pregnant women, over 65s, chronically ill people…).
Due to the persistent risk posed by coronavirus, this year the vaccination appointments will be spaced out, with more than one vaccine point per health centre, in order to avoid agglomerations and queues.
For those who are classed as ‘high-risk’ or who have difficulty getting to their local health centre, the regional government will prioritize vaccination in their private homes, with healthcare professionals making house trips, as they did at the start of the Covid inoculation campaign.
Residents in Andalucía can request an appointment through the ClicSalud + website, the Salud Responde app, by calling the Salud Responde service or by contacting a health center directly.
