Andalusia increases discount on buses and metros to 60 per cent
The regional government has agreed to an extra 10% off the price of tickets for the next three months
Public transport in Andalusia, including city buses and metro services, will be cheaper as of this April thanks to an additional discount from the regional government, the Junta de Andalucía.
At the moment, the central government in Madrid is subsidising 30% of the cost of tickets on metropolitan buses and city subways, while the regional government is subsidising 20%. With the extra 10% promised by the Junta as of April, the total reduction in transport prices will come to 60%.
This discount, which will cost the government an estimated 6.7 million euros, will start to be applied on the Seville, Malaga and Granada metros from April 1, while on metropolitan buses it will be applied from April 10, once the measure has been approved by the boards of directors of the nine Andalusian consortiums.

For now, this extra 10% discount is only expected to last until June 30, 2023, but this may be extended closer to the time.
This new discount is in addition to others that the Regional Government already applies on a permanent basis in the transport services under its jurisdiction, such as the Consortium Card, which offers a 30% discount on the initial price; and the Youth Transport Card, which gives discounts starting at 50% for under 30s.
