Andalusia storm warning: Weekend weather forecast September 15-17
Cloudy or overcast skies are expected, with widespread showers and thunderstorms in some areas of the region
Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated yellow alerts in every province of Andalucía for this Friday September 15, warning of locally heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and hail as a new DANA storm is expected to arrive this weekend.
The skies will be cloudy on the Mediterranean coast and slightly cloudy in the rest, tending to very cloudy skies throughout the whole autonomous community. Aemet says there will be “occasional showers” in the morning and more to come in the afternoon, especially in the eastern half of Andalucía, where they may be locally strong and be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail stones.
Minimum temperatures will remain unchanged in the eastern third of the region but will actually go up slightly in the rest, while maximum temperatures will rise on the Atlantic coast and the far east, and remain unchanged or fall in central areas.
Winds will be easterly on the Mediterranean coast and Cadiz, with strong intervals, with variable winds in the rest, increasing to the south.
For Saturday 16 and Sunday 17, there are no weather warnings in place and skies will be cloudy or overcast, but still with widespread showers and thunderstorms sweeping across the region.
In the far east of the region, the storms may be locally heavy or persistent and could even accompanied by hail, while morning fog and red dust in the sky are not ruled out on the Mediterranean slope.
Temperatures will fall across the board, with maximum temperatures dropping considerably in the northern half of the region, and easterly winds will blow along the coast, becoming southerly on the Atlantic coast, with variable light winds in the rest of the region.
By Monday, though, and going into the beginning of next week, the rainstorms look set to abate somewhat, though there could be more stormy episodes to come midweek.
