ARCHIVED - Andalucia restrictions update September 8: five provinces drop to alert level one
In a relaxation of Covid measures, bars and restaurants will be allowed to open until 2am in several parts of Andalucía
As the fifth wave of the coronavirus pandemic in Spain continues to loosen its grip, the regional health authorities in Andalucía have confirmed that Cádiz, Granada, Córdoba, Jaén and Málaga have all dropped to alert level 1, while Seville, Almería and Huelva remain at level 2 for the fourth consecutive week. These new alert levels will be in place from midnight on Thursday September 9 and will be reviewed in a week.
The Junta de Andalucía also announced on Wednesday that there will be no night-time curfew for any municipality with more than 5,000 inhabitants.
In a move welcomed by the hospitality industry, opening hours for bars, restaurants and cafes will be extended to 2am, with last orders at 1am. Nightlife venues can remain open until 3:30am but drinks can’t be served after 3am. For municipalities in alert level 1, the number of people allowed to sit at a table has been increased to 10 on outdoor terraces and eight indoors.
For large celebrations, the maximum capacity has been increased to 250 people for municipalities on alert level 1, while ice cream parlours can keep their doors open until 2am once they don’t serve alcohol.
Theme parks, water parks and fairground attractions may also remain open until 2.00 in the morning, while conferences can host up to 1,000 people at alert level 1 or 800 at alert level 2 indoors. Outside, the maximum capacity is 1,500 at both levels.
For wakes and funerals, 30 people can attend indoor services and 40 people outdoors
Málaga
The Costa del Sol health district is the only one that remains at alert level 2 for the third week running, while Malaga and Guadalhorce join Serranía, La Vega and Axarquía are now at level 1.
Córdoba
All areas of Guadalquivir, Córdoba and the south have fallen to level 1.
Cádiz
The Campo de Gibraltar Oeste health districts remain at alert level 2 for the eighth consecutive week, while Bahía de Cádiz-La Janda drops to level 1 this week to join Jerez-Costa Noroeste, Sierra de Cádiz and Campo de Gibraltar East.
Granada
The entire area is now at alert level 1.
Seville
All districts remain at level 2 for the seventh week running.
Huelva
For the seventh week the Condado Campiña health district remains at level 2 and the Costa district for the eighth, while the northern area drops to level 1. However, the municipalities of Cala, Santa Olalla de Cala, Zufre and Arroyomolino de León belong to the Sevilla Norte health district and remain at level 2.
Almería
The north remains at level 1 and the districts of Poniente and Almería capital are at level 2 for the seventh week. Jaén is at level 2 for the sixth consecutive week.
