ARCHIVED - Estepona looking better than ever as Garden of the Costa del Sol project progresses
So far, 130 streets in the town in Málaga (Andalusia) have been remodelled as part of the ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’ initiative.
Work to renovate and improve 11 streets in Estepona is now complete, the council has confirmed.
With a budget of 1.5 million euros co-funded by FEDER European funds, the work consisted of renewing pavements and urban fixtures and replacing drains and drainage systems.
Architectural barriers were also removed, and trees and gardens planted as part of the council’s plans to make the town more sustainable and more attractive for both residents and visitors on a long and short-term basis.
The work on the 11 streets (Belén, Cristo del Perdón, San Juan, Valladolid, Barcelona, Goya, Granada, Isaac Albéniz, Castañuela, Félix Rodriguez de la Fuente and Lope de Vega) was part of the town's Productive Investment Plan, which has allocated a total of 80 million euros to create employment and boost the local economy by a variety of sustainable actions which aim to develop long-term empòyment for the area.
