The Almería provincial government is spending 447,000 euros on work to resurface and spruce up 20 streets in the popular tourist destination of Mojacar, Almería (Andalusia).
A contract has been awarded to modernise and renovate 20 streets in Mojácar Playa, funded by the Almería provincial government.
The project aims to work on the main streets in the most popular tourist areas of the seaside town to improve safety and comfort for drivers and pedestrians, locals and visitors, providing better access to the commercial areas.
The streets included in the current project are: La Mata, Las Artesas, Orán, Salvia, Las Zarzas, Plaza de Las Palmeras, Camino del Descargador, El Arenal, El Cantal, Jerez, Lucinda, Vista de Los Ángeles, Málaga, Alberto, Majada Calera, Solana, Turquesa, Las Venticas, Bélgica and Murgis.
They have been divided into 10 separate areas, which will be dealt with one at a time, with work focusing on re-surfacing, paving unpaved areas, cleaning and clearing excess undergrowth, adapting parking spaces to make better use of the space available, renewing drainage where required, replacing curbs, painting road signals and restoring the fountain on Plaza de las Palmeras square.
In addition to sprucing up the area, the investment into infrastructural work is part of a region-wide project to invest into public works, helping to generate employment and re-activate the regional economy.
