ARCHIVED - Body of 33-year-old man found in abandoned Totana nightclub
Two young men made the grisly discovery at a derelict discotheque in the Region of Murcia
The lifeless body of a 33-year-old man from Alhama de Murcia was discovered at an abandoned nightclub in the Murcia town of Totana at the weekend, the second death at the venue in seven months.
On Saturday afternoon, April 9 two young men stumbled across the body inside the deserted Central nightclub on Avenida Juan Carlos I which was severely damaged in a fire last September, and alerted Totana Local Police at around 6.20pm.
A medical team and the Guardia Civil were immediately sent to the scene but medics could only confirm the victim's death. The deceased's identity has not been revealed, but according to police sources, he had previously been seen wandering around the area which is known for drug use.
The case is now in the hands of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil, who have not yet been able to clarify the cause of death.
The night venue, where one person died due to smoke inhalation following the fire seven months ago, is in the process of being demolished after Totana Town Hall ordered the "ruined building" be pulled down on March 21.
