Breezy and wet this week: Andalusia weather forecast January 6-9
Rain will continue to threaten in large parts of Andalucía all this week
Temperatures expected on Thursday
It was a rollercoaster of a weekend in Andalucía, with sunny skies giving way to torrential downpours on Saturday evening, forcing many Three Kings parades to be rescheduled. Sadly, the forecast isn’t looking much better for the coming week.
The outlook isn’t nearly as stormy, but there will be a chance of rain on most days and while the temperatures will start to creep up from the middle of the week, the days ahead will remain very unsettled.
Monday January 6
Monday will probably be the worst day, with very cloudy skies accompanied by occasionally heavy rain. Stormy episodes are forecast in western municipalities but this shouldn’t spread too far.
Throughout the day the rain will tend to subside but temperatures will also drop as we head into evening.
Almeria and Granada have been issued with a yellow alert for rough sea conditions thanks to a blustery west wind.
Tuesday January 7
Another cloudy day is on the cards, although it might brighten up a bit later in the afternoon. Night-time temperatures will continue to fall, leading to frost inland, but the mercury could rise by a degree or two at the height of the day.
The weather warnings have been lifted, but towns along the Mediterranean coast can still expect stiff breezes.
Wednesday January 8
Wednesday will be very overcast with light showers that will spread from west to east from midday. Temperatures will rise generally, more noticeably inland and to the east.
Light variable winds could develop into very strong gusts on the eastern Mediterranean coast.
Thursday January 9
Thursday will be very cloudy again, with rain forecast in the Strait area and in the Betic mountain ranges during the early morning. This should clear up by noon.
Minimum temperatures will begin to rise, notably in the Guadalquivir valley, while daytime temperatures will start to climb across the board, reaching 21ºC in Sevilla, Almeria and Malaga.
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Andalucia this week
- Monday January 6: Min 3ºC; Max 19ºC
- Tuesday January 7: Min 1ºC; Max 19ºC
- Wednesday January 8: Min 1ºC; Max 20ºC
- Thursday January 9: Min 7ºC; Max 21ºC
